Water play is so important for child development. You read more about that here.
With the weather that we’ve had lately, we have had lots of time for outdoor water play. My current two charges love dumping water on themselves so we have to keep our water play outside or the whole house would be soaked. This week I put the ball pit balls in the pool and our water play time ended up lasting nearly two hours!
We were able to use items we already have to play several games. They are listed below:
A transfer game
A color sorting game,
Scooping and pouring,
Then I brought out the paint brushes and and the kids painted with water and lined up the brushes.
I did not instruct the kids on what to do. I gave them the materials and let them explore. Everything you see in this post, is stuff we had on hand. I hope this give you some ideas of water play can look like.
