Beyond Construction Paper

Most projects you that require paper will call for construction paper. It’s colorful, inexpensive, and very versatile. It also tear easily, wilts when you use too much glue, and can’t be painted on.

Instead of construction paper, I like to use card stock. Card stock comes in a variety colors and prices are comparable to construction paper.  Once you’ve mastered card stock. try switching it up with other types of paper.

These may include:

  • Scrap book paper

comes with different backgrounds, scenes, patterns, and textures.

  • Foam

comes flat on both sides or with sticker backing. The sticker backing is great for smaller kids who aren’t ready for glue.

  • Felt

comes in a variety of colors and patterns.

Takes some time and wonder the isles of your local craft store. look for various textures and patters that you can incorporate in your projects. I tend to buy things when they are on sale. I have a couple of books of scrap book paper that were normally $20 each but I got them for $5 each.
